Machinery Optimal Layout Design of a Production System with the Aim of Reducing Transportation Costs Using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm

Authors

Abstract:

In this study, solutions for machinery layout with the aim of reducing transportation costs will be discussed. To do this, imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA), which is a very complicated and effective meta-heuristic algorithm is introduced. In the offered algorithm, different kinds of machinery layout are considered in single-row as country and then the best possible layout is developed based on ICA phases such as revolution and absorption policy, population displacement and production and applying its steps on the machinery, possible layouts were investigated by considering the distance of machinery pairs and components’ manufacturing routes.. The results show that using this algorithm, layout of machines would have the most favorable form based on used machinery to produce components.

Optimization of Fabric Layout by Using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm

In textile industry, marker planning is one of the main operations in the cutting fabric stage. Marker packing is usually used to maximize cloth exploitation and minimize its waste. In this research, a method is used based on new found meta-heuristic imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) and Bottom-Left-Fill Algorithm (BLF) to achieve optimal marker packing. Function of the proposed method wa...

Optimal reconfiguration of radial distribution system with the aim of reducing losses and improving voltage profiles using the improved lightning search algorithm

In this paper, a modified version of the lightning search algorithm is proposed in order to find the optimal reconfiguration of the switches and locate and determine the optimal capacity of distributed generation sources in the distribution feeder. The main optimization goals are to reduce ohmic losses and voltage deviations in the standard 33-bus and 94-node IEEE feeders. The simulation result...

Design of IIR Digital Filter using Modified Chaotic Orthogonal Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)

There are two types of digital filters including Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and Finite Impulse Response (FIR). IIR filters attract more attention as they can decrease the filter order significantly compared to FIR filters. Owing to multi-modal error surface, simple powerful optimization techniques should be utilized in designing IIR digital filters to avoid local minimum. Imperialist compe...
